Actually it was a bug and there was a patch to fix it.

Honestly, I also missed the old versions of Wordpress. I'm even thinking of writing my own super simple blogging script including essential features only. I've started planning for it and will let everyone knows when its done.

Not checked the bug myself as I dont get the volume of traffic yet that generates that amount of spam comments on my WP 2.6 site.

but rather than a bug, could it be something a bit more clever, and the extra 5 it deletes are copies of comments your deleting or from the same IP, getting flagged as spam and deleted when their copies are. Or is that just hoping too much....

Scanning down the page for spam comments? Stop here! This is not one of them.

But I do want to say that I miss the old Wordpress versions. Every time there is an upgrade I cringe.

Well, using back button I realized my report was changed and actually closed because it was "duplicated" but still I can't find it under "my tickets" tab.
Anyway here is the link to the ticket reported two weeks ago, containing a patch:

UPDATE: I have no idea what's going on but when I submit a ticket in http://trac.wordpress.org I get the ticket number but then it just vanishes and I can't even find the ticket by it's ticket number!

If anybody knows how to submit a ticket properly please let me know!
