An update on my domain sale issue with Sedo

I’ve contacted Sedo again, reminding them of the situation explained here and asked some questions like until when I should wait and blah blah blah.

Guess what ?

I got EXACTLY the same reply that I got a month ago, word by word a template email as a reply that had nothing to do with my questions and in the end something like ‘for further information don’t hesitate to contact us’ !

What is the point of contact when there seems to be an automated reply that I already got it twice !

I don’t know with such a high commission they get, what special do they do ?

Now the question is should I really remain obligated to this sale ?

Big boys do make mistakes …

ad1.gif

Three days ago I wasted some money on Adwords because I forgot to set daily budget limit for a keyword test drive I wanted to do that ended up with a shocking view when I logged in the next day and saw the cost column of this stupid test campaign (Not so much but still didn’t worth it). I was blaming myself how careless I am blah blah blah till I saw this ad and now I feel better because I realized even big boys like Dell do make mistakes :) Click on the thumbnail and you will realize what I am talking about.

Is Sedo a good and safe place to sell ?

Personally I thought the answer would be YES till I experienced something else.

Around two months ago I received an offer for one of my domains, after a long negotiation process, decided to sell it but because the offer was lower than what I expected, I put it on auction, feeling confident that anyway the domain will be sold to the initial bidder if no other bid take place, and finally auction ended with the initial bid.

In their Auction FAQ they clearly stated the fact that the domain is GUARANTEED to be sold to the highest bidder.

From Sedo Faq page:

Is my domain guaranteed to sell if I auction it on Sedo?
Marketplace auctions definitely end in a sale! Domains may only be sent to auction when you receive an offer which will serve as the reserve. Auctions run only as long as the offer is binding, therefore should you not receive any new offers during the auction, the domain will definitely sell to the buyer whose offer lead to the auction.

With Broker Initiated Auctions, the domain will only sell once the reserve has been met.”

Passing almost a month from the day auction ended and still no news from buyer nor from Sedo.

The transaction status shows “Buyer found. Transaction in progress…” and the domain is no longer for sale and I can’t even sell it to someone else.

Contacted the customer support at Sedo and all I heard back was they already contacted the buyer and I should be patient but how long ?

I thought it’s good to share this experience with people who might be interested.

I will try to keep here updated if something comes up.

Cheers,

Soroush

Coming back to blogging

Well,

I know a lot of you didn’t like the idea of domaining and discussions around it and there are others who are really in love with this business but I thought I’m getting way far of my main target of creating Scriptbloggers !

Anyway, I’ve got a good decision here and it was to move all the domaining related issues to my new site (DnAve.com) and keep Scriptbloggers my central point of projects.

Well, I’m getting closer to my deadline and I’m almost half a way to my first target ($500 a month) with some help of my domaining skills.

So I should pay more attention to what I do in these last steps as there is no time for trials and errors.

First: I got a good result from LiveProxies.com by removing Adsense from header and getting sponsors for it now the only problem is that it is blocked in some places (like the place I work) so I should give it a new life by creating more mirror sites that will not cost much for me.

Second: I have a feeling that CasinoNewbies is getting out of Google’s sandbox as it’s around 3-4 days that I see reasonable amount of organic visitors from Google on more competitive keywords. it will be definitely something I can count on but there is not much work to do.

Third: DnAve will be one of my short term sources of revenue as I got really good results these days focusing on domaining business but honestly it is not something I want to do forever as the way I do it needs my attention almost everyday.

And finally BlogDepot !

Yes, it’s also mine plus BlogBloom.com, Blogescape.com AreaBlog.com , and some more that I can’t remember.

These are a part of project of mine that never came to reality but I was really surprised when I checked BlogDepot after 2 months and faced more than 60 blogs on it with Alexa rank of 387k !

I know I’m wasting the power and potential these domains have but they needs at least 3-4 days of work that currently I’m really interested to find !

I need a day just to put all my thoughts together and organize what I need to do.

As always your suggestions are really appreciated.

Cheers,

Soroush

Update.

Looking for new available domain names list? Scroll down.

Projects:

If you are a Sudoku fan, take a look at my new project Daily Sudoku at SudokuDay.com

I had this domain for months and wrote a Sudoku Generator script for it but that script is not fully functional at the moment (It works fine but sometimes it gives messed up puzzles) so I decided to give it a go by checking the generated puzzles manually and try to troubleshoot the script later

I know this site is not going to generate any revenue as I didn’t even put ads on it but I always wanted to do it, so I just did it :)

One of the projects I’m going to start soon is TorontoMates.com

It’s going to be a Social Networking / Dating site for Toronto.

Currently I’m doing some research to see what is the best script for it. I think PHPizabi is good but still I’m not sure.

I don’t want to repeat the mistake I did on httpforum to start with a wrong script and think about migration when it got into problems.

As always, suggestions are appreciated.

Nice Available Domain Names:

Laptop-Refurbished.com/net seem to be taken now but the other one in my previous post is still available.

NancyPelosi.info is available with 98,000+ Searches a month for “Nancy Pelosi” according to Overture.

For some reason I really like the”.sc” domain extension. Maybe it’s because of whois.sc that I use a lot during the day.

at present eMarketing.sc is Available to be registered.

Good News for “Domain Name” Lovers

First I have an update on my projects then the good news, it’s like the advertisements you see before the movies or favorite tv shows.

What is New ?

  • I got an unbelievable domain name, again with high hopes for it.

HTML.sc (Html Source)

According to Overture there are 108,690 searches per day for the word “html” that means more than 3M a month and around 15M on Google. I think I will be able to take my share so I already started thinking and planing on some nice ideas for it. Currently,I just installed a WordPress blog on it with a unique mini article, just to start the Google Sandbox’s timer and get out of it more quickly.

Again your ideas are highly appreciated.

  • LiveProxies finally beat Wikipedia on MSN.

Wikipedia was its only competitor on MSN for some related search terms and finally LiveProxies won the ranking race. I will start to disclose and share how easy is to get ranked well on MSN very soon. Currently I’m doing some final testings to finish my report but I will publish it as soon as it becomes ready.

OK now what is the good news for domain name lovers?

As I’m really overflowed by projects and domain names, but unfortunately can’t get rid of the addiction of searching for good available domain names, I decided to publish the valuable available domain names here. this way there will be a win-win-win situation. I won’t lose money, the domain name won’t be wasted and you will get a good name. Cool ?

I’m going to create a new category and start it shortly to reduce the temptation of registering them by myself, hope it works.

Don’t forget to leave me comments. ;)

Cheers,

Soroush
