Alternative options for Overture Keyword Selector Tool
As many of you know, Overture keyword selector tool located at “inventory.overture.com” without doubt, was one of the most useful tools (if not the most) for webmasters, domainers and SEO and SEM professionals for years, returning a useful and detailed report for free.
I was definitely one of the regular users enjoying this great free tool, but unfortunately it has been a while since Yahoo stopped maintaining it and it was up and down randomly, returning out-dated data. Anyway it has been weeks since I couldn’t even open the page and keep getting timeout error messages.
There has been rumors of Yahoo launching a new improved tool to replace it but a quick research in Yahoo’s official blog and other reliable sources didn’t give me any hope.
Searching Google for “overture keyword tool” gave me the old dead url and the same search in Yahoo gave me nothing but other people’s posts and articles about it. For sure if there was any plan to support it, it would be at the top of Yahoo search results but it isn’t, so I should probably give up and look for an alternative solution.
My quick research for a good alternative solution for keyword suggestion tool had the following result:
Wordtracker keyword suggestion tool seems the most popular one somehow the numbers doesn’t seem equal to overture results but still it’s a great tool to find the best keyword to optimize your site or your campaign for.
While the free tool is useful enough for some basic usages, the paid subscription gives out much more detailed information, saving a lot of manual research time and cost. Besides that they have a free trial so you can experience working with the paid version to see the differences.
The other tool that I’ve found useful is KeywordDiscovery‘s free service offered by a company called Trellian.
They also have a paid service and a SEO software which I haven’t tried yet but the description seems useful.
Also there is a comparison page of Wordtracker Vs. KeywordDiscovery (can be found here) and in that KeywordDiscovery seems much more featured than Wordtracker but I can’t judge till I try at least their trial version and compare it to the other one.
I’ll keep here updated,
Cheers,

5 commentsHappy new year everyone!
Hi there,
Happy new year!
Hope 2008 will be a year full of Online and Offline success for all of us who try (including myself)
After a long time finally I got the time to sit at my desk and do something other than WORK, either contract work or my own projects which have been pretty much faded!
God, I really missed blogging while I can’t really call myself a “blogger”! What a blogger who has 2 posts on December, 1 in November and 3 in October ? ahh, that sucks but hopefully things will get better soon, I’m positive…
Speaking about my projects, I said “pretty much faded” but not completely, because I finally managed to launch ArticleSale.com which is the state of the art in programming and efficiency, not mentioning its great idea and usefulness.
After being ripped off several times by people who call themselves “Article Writers” I felt the need for an article marketplace which you can see a sample of the articles before you pay for them, without days for the article to become ready !
This is what ArticleSale.com is all about.
Basically I buy high quality prewritten articles in bulk and put them for sale on ArticleSale.com, then the first person who makes the payment using the Paypal button, will be the owner and the article will be removed from our store permanently
So if you ever needed content for your website, for article submission, SEO or any other purpose, it’s good to take a look at my new Article Marketplace
More than its idea, I love the coding I did for it, it’s 95% automated while I kept my faith in WordPress and used it as the framework.
Beside that I was mostly occupied by my work, full time and contracts which is anything but fun! (Well, sort of… specially when you get paid.)
Have fun,
Cheers,
Soroush
No commentsA world full of bug !
I just don’t know what is going on but definitely something is wrong with big boys.
Here are some examples:
- Yahoo mail, which I’ve been with for years, probably 10 years (since the beginning of their service) has been too slow and worst than that recently there were sensitive emails I never received and simply dropped! Which I’m sure they’ve been sent because they were from Paypal!
- Overture keyword suggestion tool is down. Yes I know it was not maintained anymore by Yahoo but there isn’t absolutely any official news about taking it down.
- Yahoo Mail keeps giving me a small tracking popup from doubleclick which is owned by Google !
- Google webmaster tool is down and here is a screenshot. clicking on the link showed in the image also didn’t help and I get the same screen.

Before, (I think a year ago) I had a similar post somewhere. The funny thing is that all the weird things happen at the same time
The fact is that using a free service you’re not allowed to complain because that’s free :-s

1 commentTo use or not to use “nofollow”
Well, today I found my blog is not using “nofollow” on links for comments! What a heaven for spammers but too bad I always check all comments manually one by one, even I know it takes time
Thought about putting “nofollow” back into the code but I think it can be considered as a good incentive for readers to post a comment. Anyway scriptbloggers is a pagerank 4 blog with all original content with no ads on it and my previous experiences showed that links from it are highly effective in term of SEO, even not to mention its fare traffic and loyal readers.
I’m even thinking of putting the 5 recent commenters on the main page but not for now as it needs more investigation.
Let’s see how it goes.
Cheers,
Soroush
5 commentsSomething is wrong, either with Feedburner or my site!
Till yesterday the number of rss subscribers of LiveProxies shown by feedburner was about 20-24 and today I was just shocked when I saw the following image on my site:

I don’t think It is correct as I don’t see a major improvement in site’s traffic but just wanted to share to see if anyone else has ever faced same kind of issue with feedburner ?
Logged in to my Feedburner account and it seems that 452 out of 463 subscribers are using Rojo which I don’t have any idea about.
Anyway let’s see how it goes!
I’ll keep here posted.
Cheers,
Soroush
4 commentsGoogle Pagerank Update
Finally it’s nice to see Google is updating the toolbar pagerank.
Yet, it’s not completely finished and the difference between different DCs can be seen which is the difference between the old value and the new one.
The result of this update for me wasn’t too disappointing ![]()
Some of my site’s gained while some others lost! There are just a few of my websites kept the same Pagerank as before !
Anyway we all know that Google updates its Pagerank regularly and what happened recently is just a reflection of what Google already had on toolbar.
Here it goes:
- Scriptbloggers.com
4 (was 1) - html.sc
5 (was 0) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Blogsuit.org
3 (was 1) - httpforum.com
2 (was 1) - dnAve.com
3 (was 0) - liveproxies.com
3 (was 0) - pokerlingo.info
1 (was 0) - smileygen.com
3 (was 0) - soccer9.com
1 (was 0) - w3faq.com
1 (was 0) - vivagift.com
1 (was 0) - english-chinese-dictionary.com
1 (was 0) - blogescape.com
1 (was 0) - rebatesave.com
3 (was 0) - alliednetworkinc.com
3 (was 4) - BulgariaHitech.com
4 (was 5) - pacificdv.com
4 (was 5) - …
None of the ones which lost pagerank was unexpected. In fact I’m glad they lost only one point but regarding the other ones I’m really surprised and happy !
Who could have expected to see PokerLingo.info which I started Oct. 8th get a Pagerank or Html.sc get Pagerank 5 !!!!
There seems to be a value in the links I put on scriptbloggers ’cause most of them gained a value more than what I expected.
Now I know the reason why I find liveproxies.com, smileygen.com, html.sc, … in the first page for a lot of related search terms!
Now I think I’m really wasting my sites’ potential and should start using them in the best way I can.
Please note that I just checked all the Pageranks using digpagerank.com and I’m just hoping it’s not a bug or mistake
Search engines index update
As far as I experienced before, MSN was the fastest search engine in term of index update when it comes to new sites but I was surprised when I saw OnlineAds.ws indexed in both Google and Yahoo but not at MSN !
Yahoo was fast enough but I couldn’t expect such a fast update from Google specially for a domain that is 15 days old !
Anyway I know that I can’t expect any stable good result from Google at least for 6-9 months but I will try my best to take advantage of the other two in this time.
This is another mini-project of mine which I started as a SEO practice and the goal is to gain good ranking for the term “Online Ads” which is searched 1202 times a month on yahoo according to Overture.
1 commentI gave up but my sites didn’t!
Hi there,
After passing toughest stages of life -losing my brother – I’m trying to push myself back to life and as Pink Floyd’s great song “Coming back to life”.
After around 2 months since my last post I finally decided to come back and make myself busier with my sites, little by little and not as crazy as I used to be but seeing my sites doing much better than before gave me an extra will to work.
If you leave any business unattended, it falls and fails but my sites lived by their own and it’s exactly what I love about online business.
Besides earnings I had from Adsense, previous ad subscriptions and affiliate links, I received a lot of interest for advertisement on my different sites.
Checking Google Analytics showed me the reason! Traffic for most of my sites became double as they got unbelievable ranks in major search terms beside some links from high traffic forums.
I learned my lesson, PATIENCE is the key to success.
Now I really feel so confident about my SEO techniques so I adopted two new babies
OnlineAds.ws & PokerLingo.info and soon I will begin to use this SEO techniques for a whole new kind of project in Real Estate Industry!
I know I’m going crazy again but this time I’ll try to work more organized, step by step with less pressure.
Lets ROCK
cheers,
Soroush
No commentsI have to give up!
Yes, you hear me right.
I really have to give up trying to hit my target, at least temporarily !
I’ve got a lot of side development freelance projects that need to be done, the revenue is great and around 20 times higher than what I wanted to reach but it really doesn’t make me satisfied.
My attempts to establish an automated business online, were not for money since I’ve never had financial problem due to kind of high salary full-time job I have and I always knew I can accept freelance projects but I don’t want to work forever and I don’t want to be limited physically that’s the fact I want to established an automated online business.
Anyways these days I am surrounded by deadlines and I barely have extra time to put my thoughts together and work on projects of mine so I have to give myself a break but don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t have anything to do with Scriptbloggers ’cause this is my BLOG not BUSINESS.
Blogging has never been a business for me,… well can be but not for me. There are a lot of bloggers out there, started a blog, put a lot of time and effort gathering info, updating their blogs and promoting it to gain readers but simply after 4-5 months, they feel lost and disappointed then they break whatever they’ve created so far.
If there has been only one thing I’ve learnt while trying to establish my online living, that is “Patience“. That’s the key most of the times.
Just as an example, CasinoNewbies could be considered as a complete failure but it’s hard to believe how many advertisement offers I received within last 7 days. Same about LiveProxies and even my young project “Allied Network Inc.” with its happy returning customers.
Ok so I will continue my slow but contiguous work on projects without setting any deadline till I found my situation good enough to meet a planned timeline.
Cheers,
Soroush
5 commentsEbay Affiliation Program
Finally I have decided to put some time and effort to try eBay affiliation program but in a kind of unique way.
The basics will be to implement it on my domains with highly searched keywords and trying to optimize and rank them well specially on MSN search results.
Why MSN ?
Not because of number of searches, of course it is not comparable to Google but it is because there is no such stupid thing like Google’s sandbox preventing new sites to rank well and succeed because of age factor.
MSN gives the new domains and old ones, equal chance to succeed and the good news for me is that MSN ranking is highly based on keywords used in url, specially when used in domain name.
As I had good experiences with my previous attempts on optimization for MSN I don’t have much to lose, even if it doesn’t work, it is going to be a good SEO practice again LOL.
Currently I am thinking of two sites to start:
CheapiPod.org ~13k searches a month based on OVT
NokiaMobile.org ~33k searches a month based on OVT
Let’s see how it goes.
Cheers,
Soroush
